If you’re like me and you have high cholesterol, you may be wondering how to lower cholesterol naturally.
Here are some simple changes you can make to your diet to help get your number down.
- Replace the half and half in your coffee with skim milk.
- Cook with virgin olive ( a monounsaturated fat) oil, nut oils or grape seed oil rather than butter (a saturated fat).
- When eating out at a restaurant avoid foods that have been fried, breaded or are covered in heavy sauces. Instead, choose dishes that are grilled, steamed, baked or broiled.
- Eat nuts! Besides being delicious and high in protein nuts can help lower bad cholesterol. Just be sure to watch your portion sizes and stick with 1-1.5 ounces for a healthy snack.

- Add beans to your diet. Beans are high in soluble fiber, which binds to cholesterol to remove it from your system. Beans make a wonderful addition to salads (as do nuts) and they also add vegetable protein to your diet. But watch out for refried beans. Restaurants sometimes add lard to them and some canned varieties also have saturated fat added to them.
- Have oatmeal for breakfast. Oatmeal, like beans, is high in soluble fiber and helps to lower cholesterol naturally.
- Choose lean, grass fed red meat rather than fatty cuts like marbled steak. Again, watch your portion size, limiting servings to 5 ounces. This can lead to a significant reduction in cholesterol.
- Drink green tea. Green tea contains antioxidants called catechins which help lower cholesterol. Aim for a minimum of 3 cups a day.
- Get more active. Exercise not only helps you lose weight it improves your good cholesterol (HDL).

I just started the Fat Smash diet 5/12. I’m not rlleay into eating the brown rice and veggies but I’m going to stick with it. I’ve read nothing but great reviews and results. I guess the hardest part is getting through phase I of the detox. So I will see how much weight I lose in the next 7 days.
I was on statins and had terlrbie muscle pains. I have a family history and elevated cholesterol. I have been doing multivitamins and minerals, COQ10, 7 day colon cleanse once a month, red rice yeast 600mg twice a day, 250mg sloniacin at night. I am a consultant for a swiss health and wellness company. The vitamins, COQ10, and colon cleanse are from this company. I have lowerd my cholesterol and every thing is back to normal. I don’t know if it’s the combination of all but I am going to continue. I watch my diet and exercise but I do allow myself a splurge once in a while in moderation.
Nothing tastes as good as being fit feels is going to be my new motto. After worikng as hard as we do to be fit, why would anyone eat a hot dog??????I always try to pick a treat that really is worth the extra calories, eat it slowly and savor every bite without doing any guilt. Then move on and get right back on track. Seems to work for me.
The most import thing is to take good qulaity supplements to give the body what it needs. Also, the body does not produce certain nutrients we don’t enough to get what we need and need supplementation. It truly does make a difference in weight loss when the body has those nutrients. Also, you must put together a plan that works for you. I took something from here, there and everywhere and I lost 70 lbs.
Congratulations Richard! Losing 70 pounds is awesome!
I have those bad parents too and grtnapdrenas etc all of them gave me the high cholesterol. I work out and eat fairly healthy but the number didn’t come down without the lipator. I figure, 2 grandfathers died of heart attacks in their 50′s, grandmothers and mom have all had strokes that I will take my chances with the lipator. I was switch to a statin because of the cost of lipator and had such horrible muscle pains I couldn’t walk must less run! Went back to the lipator.
I definitely get freaked out when I think about being fat again. I have heard of hoodia but never tried it but I would since it seems like an appetite suppressant from nature that works for real people. I am curious to learn more.
Statins are not the end all! If you look at the statistics, stiatns and low cholesterol do not prevent heart attack. Infact only one drug does lower Heart attack rates, and that is because it controls inflammation as well. Daily stiatns over time place stress on your cleaning organs. If there is no family history of cholesterol related diseases, you run, eat health (take antioxidants instead) why worry about cholesterol!
